More people speak english english anyway, afterall if your learning english you learn english, not US english.

There are also a few 'quirks' that result from the Americanization of some word, the very idea of deliberately meddling with the dictionary because you founded a new state was sorta unnecessary in the first place.

Its only American people and English people who get confused every now and again by branding that use the American spellings.

British english has a big fear of the letter 'z', I've noticed.

I find americans pronounce the 'ise' at the end of words with a distinct z, which is probably why it was changed from an s, although there are still situations where the s is used as it was in england e.g. advertisement where its pronounced ad-ver-tis-munt

Whats most striking is a lot of americans cant tell which is the americanism and which is standard english

This grievance comes from pernikety people without even the remotest realisation that British and American words are sometimes spelt differently.They should have travelled more! We've been at the centre of some rancour, but we're not going to take offence or harbour any grievances. The catalogue of their ill-informed certainties won't colour this organisation's programme. It's a grey area anyway. And we don't want to labour the point. Except to add that most of these cavillous correspondents seem to feel that they have a licence or a blank cheque for a level of rudeness that more civilised souls wouldn't have dreamt of. In response, we nevertheless practise polite dialogue, enabling them to recognise that the error is entirely their own. (We manoeuvre them towards the Oxford English Reference Dictionary, which is also an encyclopaedia.) This leaves them quite defenceless, which may account for the fact that these less than honourable individuals virtually never apologise.

Have you ever heard british people speak? They take proper speaking, grammar, and accent and rip it a new asshole. Not that americans don't do that, but at least you can understand what the fuck we're saying.

Well, 'modelling' gets approx. 32 million hits on Google, while 'modeling' gets over double that amount. I didn't realize 'modeling' was British English, and based the post on my limited knowledge and Firefox's limited spellchecker.

The point still stands, however: 'Modeling' is the more popular variant!
