I belive that God is some symbol made up to explain the ''unexplainebole'' as with all religions. They explained what made the earth and the life that lives on it. It explained why it rains, what the sun and stars are and you get sick. And whats happen after death.

Ever noticed that all religons have answears to qwestions that no one knew the answers to back then?

The thing was also made upp like a sort of law. If you stole or murderd, you would face entrenal pains in hell. Something that dosent sound very fun now, even for the most brave of murderes.

God aint logical at all anymore. I belive in sieance, if anything.

*IMO*

Atheist.

there are no gods, and there especially is no one god that simply created our infinitely grand universe from its own divine will along with a single little planet orbiting a single little star for the benefit of a single little animal to worship and rever this god before dying and going to his domain (or at least a domain made by him for them).

If someone says otherwise, I'd say with confidence that they are ignorant or liars. We have no purpose other than what we make for ourselves. We are not obligated to give credit to some utterly imperceptible 'factor' for the goings-on in life, or for life itself. We are not obligated to swear fealty or servitude to anything or anyone, and none are obligated to serve us.

I think that whether people like it or not, they can be traced back to 'lesser' animals, to microbes, and finally: to simple earth. I also think that death is as un-miraculous an event as life, and hardly special: It's a known fact that everyone in has died thus far.

And the afterlife? probably much like the before-life. Nonexistent. A whimsical idea people have clung to because it makes them seem a bit more significant in the scheme of things.

I'd like to say more, but I'd be going off on tangents. I also hope that this doesn't turn into a religious war either. They've all been travesties.

This has got to be the greatest set of atheists i've ever seen... Really odd.

I would be really interested in comparing this poll with such polls within the comunities of Starcraft/Warcraft (the TA/TA::Spring nemesis). It could be interessting to see if they're comunities have the same standings of if they have the oposite...

What led you to your conclusion about the universe?

I don├óÔé¼Ôäót ever remember what Munch thinks the universe creation is! He/she/ ambiguous just said that he/she/ambiguous believers in god. You can believe in science and religion, which is odd and I don├óÔé¼Ôäót get how they can manage it, but you sure as all hell do it!

In some kind of strange way religion does make sense.
Science and religion both can't explain the birth of the universe/existence. But there's one fundamental thing that keeps me from believing in a god.

If you take the scientific path, you come to the conclusion that:
a. Everything in the universe has been there forever.
b. A long, long time ago, everything just appeared.

Now, If you say God created the universe, then I ask you where did God come from?
c. God has always existed. Then I refer to a: if God has always existed, why wouldn't that be possible for the entire universe/existence?
d. God just appeared. Same with c, referring to b.
e. (The answer one of my teachers gave me) God IS the universe. Well, then you would be worshipping a pile of matter and energy.

EDIT: With "you", I don't mean anyone from these forums.

Well even if you do not belive in God himself (or her ocassionally), religion itself has done some cool stuff. If you ignore the 'Holy Wars' and the extreemists (like the Terrorists) and examine everyday garden style religion, it helps alot of people through their lives. Its just the extreemists that spoil everything for everyone else. Bloody idiots.

If you like it or not gentlemen: God does exist.
Let's just say we will talk again after we have died :-)

Peace to you all (non-believers and knowers).

Monk.

Saying you know it kills the entire aspect of believing.

Saying you know it kills the entire aspect of believing
What?!?! no its doesn't?? who the hell would wander around going
"I BELIVE IN GOD! , but i dont know if he's realy there or not!"

and he's saying after were all dead we can have an argument over who was right.
For belivers this would mean... we were right
For non belivers it would not matter as nothing would matter once your dead.

Then how can we know that if there isn't any real proof? We can BELIEVE God exists, but we'll never KNOW he/she/it exists. As far as I know that's what's religion is all about.
and he's saying after were all dead we can have an argument over who was right.
I agree on that one :-). Except my comment was only based on the last sentence of Monk's post, hence the quote in my post.
