If I am using 64 Ubuntu will I have a 64 bit spring build for Linux if I download from the repository or do I have to make one myself. I would also like to know if anyone has observed the performance difference when running spring under a 64 bit as opposed to a 32 bit OS?

Yes, you will get 64 bit builds for ubuntu 64 bit. Its a long time ago since I made performance comparison regarding this, but if I remember right performance was a bit better with 64 bit build, but nothing groundbreaking.

Roger that, I had it installed under 64 bit Ubuntu before but didn't play it enought or have anything to really compare it to. I have seen this post about a multicore optimized .exe file. I wonder if there is a version of this for linux and if so would that in combination with the 64 bit build on a 64 bit OS make a difference. Hum, well being as this is open source, I wonder how many people have tweaked their own build and compiled? And if so what was tweaked?
