I'm a fan of the deformable terrain and especially the way transports are handled, personally :P

Hmm...

What to pick?

I really like the 3d and balance. So many units can be used for so much without being Rock-paper-sicsor.

But i guess the balance is from TA really.... but who cares?

I think it's the 3D that got me here, it's all the new features and possibilities that keeps me.

tbh i love the 3D ness. it actually BALANCES OTA!!! no more samson swarms! (although i think that rockos need a boost now as they r supposed to be anti vehicle) AWESOME! and the collision detection etc is buggy but who cares it pwns the shit out of oOTA ANYDAY (ignore any such remarks NoiZe might make on this matter :p)

No... I think that "Teh nakid ladiez" is the best feature... I would have voted for that if it had been on the poll.

TA was 3D too, you guys realize this right? It just didn't have a rotating camera... how else do you think we're using TA content?

Didnt have 3D camera and didnt have proper 3D levels. Just had a flat bitmap and a heightmap. Thats why were NOT using TA levels. But it was the first game to have 3D models, and for them to still work today is a pretty big achivment.

First RTS, not first game, to have 3D models.

What I like most about Spring is that it works, it's real, it's not a project-under-development, but an actual game I can play right now.

Since first public release Spring has been playable, enjoyable, and enough free of bug that I can finish most games (and TA/Spring games can last long!). It's not only a tech demo, and wait-for-later-for-the-complete-thing, but it already feels complete and finished. I mean, even if it keeps evolving and improving, I could use it as it is and be happy with it. That's the point I like most and am most impressed by.

Then I like that it delivered all that is promised, as far as I remember, and much more. It wasn't a disappointment.

Then I like that it took the best RTS, and made it ever better. As far as I know no other RTS had such a good order queuing system than TA, but Spring made it even better.

I also like that we won't be bound by TA limitation, (like 512 units & 256 weapons max), but sadly it introduced the texture limitation that wasn't in TA. But I like that Spring is open source and that the dev are busy improving everyday, so hopefully any issue can be solved, unlike commercial game with closed source (and unlike TA with a bankrupt Cavedog).

My favorite feature? tough to answer
The terrain can be excellent, depending on the map and video settings... Small Divide in first person is almost a nature walk, and the river basin in XantheTerra is beautiful to behold. The way that you can ravage and scar the land is no less impressive... but it's not my favorite feature.
Total Annihilation translates so well into 3d for being such an (forgive me for saying it) old, nearly ancient game, that is astounds me. The explosions and weapon fire have been much improved on as well, making Starburst rockets look excellent and the plasma shells fired by many units look more like blazing globes of fire... but it's not my favorite feature.
Something else which I am immensely pleased with I suppose falls into AI: pathfinding and individual unit behavior. In TA, pathfinding was fine until you built mobile units, and I suppose that made me partial to aircraft. In Spring though, I was impressed to see my armies swiftly negotiate rough terrain without causing a terrible holdup in bottlenecks. Also, having seen airplanes in action against ground and other air targets, I can say without a doubt that Spring has the best aircraft behavior of any RTS. Apparently the 'macro' AI's in development for Spring will also be very intelligent and natural themselves... but it's not my favorite feature.
What has won me over in Spring is that I can finally play multiplayer. The thing is, I have a modem, and unfortunately that has made me a very solitary gamer. Until now the only game I did manage to pla more-or-less smoothly was StarCrap, but now I can feel the warmth of day. I don't know how it was done, but Spring runs in multiplayer a helluva lot better than TA did!
I know that most of the world (that matters here, anyways) runs on cable or DSL, so I don't expect anyone to second my vote for best feature, and I'm sorry if I was a bit long-winded, but hey, I wanted to give credit where credit was due
