Questions about commands in the UIKeys

I just downloaded this game, and I looked through the controls in the UIKeys.txt file...

Where can I find a list of all the possible commands, and what they all do?

What is the command for changing weapons while in FPS mode?

Also, in other units you seem to have all of the weapons selected to fire at the same time while in FPS mode...

Is there a way to select only specific weapons to fire while in FPS mode?...

While in FPS mode the ARM commander mecha says that its laser weapon, and some other weapon, and the dgun weapon are all ready to attack... but it only fires the dgun weapon...

How do I change weapons to the laser weapon while in FPS mode?...

Also, I noticed that my scroll wheel scrolls the wrong directions...

When you move the wheel back, it scrolls down instead of up... how can I invert my scroll wheel without inverting the rest of my mouse?...

Use cmds.txt in the docs folder, and look up the thread with BA-designed keybindings with build options and fun things like that.

It should shoot all weapons all the time, no choosing right now. Might have not fired because you were aiming at a distance?

You set the scrollwheel speed to a negative number. I'm amused that you said back->down and called it 'wrong', that's how most apps work. Normally, it's someone who associates zoom and wants back to be zoom out like many other apps. :P

This game was made so hard to set up, it acts as a giant filter that screens out the idiots from entering the community...

Normally a person like you is one in a million, but now I'm starting to think that this community is full of intelligent helpful people :3...

Such a wonderful post!

In other news, I have a few more questions/comments that were created by your post...

#1.) When will there be weapon choosing? Is that ever going to be an option?

Where can I post suggestions?

#2.) I've heard some things about coding your own widgets etc- is there a specific forum for LUA Widgets on here?...

#3.) When I was in the ARM Commander, I tried firing all the possible ways... it only fires the Dgun...

It doesn't fire the laser...

Since it's supposed to fire all the weapons- is that a glitch?...

#4.) As for the thing about you saying that's how most apps work with regards to the scroll wheel...

When I used to play it- I was the best player in a game called Empire Earth 2...

At the beginning of every game, you had to zoom out real quick, because you start zoomed into the game, and that's how the zoom worked... sorry if I'm bad at explaining it...

Here is are two videos of some of my gameplay in EE2!

http://www.megavideo.com/?v=BRZ7OQBK

#5.) I tried flying the aircraft with FPS... it's hard to get used to at first, but it is playable...

It would be much more helpful if in all the different units you could have a cockpit, and a GUI thing with actual working buttons that did things with respect to that unit...

I noticed that in the armhawk, and the corvamp, it says "Guidedmissile" or something (keyword guided), and yet the missiles fire with no guidance system of any kind...

Is there any chance that that's going to get updated, and you're going to be given a way to guide your missiles?...

#6.) Since this game is open source, (it is open source, right?) is it allowed for you to edit your own client to add features that people havn't added yet?

Would you still be able to play games with other people using different clients than yours?

1. IIRC no, and fps is used extremely rarely in spring. I havent used it in months.
2. Lua subforum. Tons of widgets and stuff there.
3. Pew pew laser of comm sucks, noone fps's that. The dgun sometimes is fps-ed, if your aiming for a tricky spot.
4. If you dont like it, change it, the option is there. Dont think even for a second that your is preferable just because *insert random game* does it differently.
5. Again, noone uses fps ingame, its more of a gimmick than something useful. Guided means that it locks onto a target and till follow it.
6. You can add lua features all you want, but an edited client might not sync with others.

zoom direction:
start springsettings.exe and enter a negative number for scrollspeed in the camera options.

Feature Requests:
http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=21
but better in-unit controlls + cockpits etc. have been suggested before its just not seen as really important.

LUA scripts:
http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=23

i think it might be possible to play online with a modified spring.exe as there have been some "quickfix .exes" if i remember correct.
maybe just post what you want to change, if its about the game interface there might already be an option/wigdet to do that.

You will be able to play online when you only change non-simulation stuff, like graphics.

There is a way to change weapons in FPS mode, but it's a workaround and you have to know it beforehand. Give the unit two different weaponsets, bind them to the On and Off states, then use ctrl+number to create a group for your one unit, enter FPS mode, select the group and use the X key to switch between On and Off mode. I've seen it work in Combat Lords, a somewhat obscure and short-lived but interesting FPS mod.

Hmm, I'm going to steal that quote, it might come in handy for defensive purposes against console newbs.

"Spring is hard to set up intentionally. It filters out the console noobs."

"Spring is hard to set up intentionally. It filters out the console noobs."
That's like saying, "setting myself on fire is a great way to heat the house in winter".

I try to make Spring easy to set up in my kernel panic installer. However, every new Spring version breaks it, and then I have to either pester devs to fix their regression, or use dirty workaround, both of which made most devs hate me by now.

Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Fire filters out everyone. Technology filters out newbs. Everyone =/= newbs despite what it may sometimes seem like.

Making something intentionally hard to use is a great way to make sure noone uses it
