Huge loss of ground texture quality after toggling LOS view

The following pictures show the ground texture quality before and after pressing the L key (which toggles Line of Sight).

It also disables shadows (and I'm assuming the lighting system in general). Is there any way to correct this?

i'm pretty sure in LOS view it disables detail textures and shadows. i'm not sure exactly why. probably for performance reasons. but it should be optional unless there's some technical reason why they can't both be on at the same time.

I hope that's not the case, since I hate not knowing where my units can and cannot see.

zoom out ;) and use other colors for los (look for it at downloader)

What you're referring to is called "detailtex." For some reason when fog of war is turned on, shadows and detailtex are not rendered. I think it was spring .77 when I noticed this disabling of detailtex, then in .78 it was fixed, now in .79 it's happening again. Shadows have always been disabled this way.

i use different los-colors, the widget is called something with los
