Looking for Lua programmer for paid contract work

Hi,
We are a small team working on a commercial project.
We are looking for one or two experienced Lua programmers to help us with coding the GUI, AI and other jobs. Part time is ok. We are distributed, but being in either Germany near Dortmund or UK near London is an advantage for face to face meetings.
Please PM for my e-mail address.
Regards,
xen

I bet if you made them a map for this game they do it for free

Sorry I don't understand the two replies above. What do you mean?

Xen, they are talking about making a map for the spring engine, and in which case they would happily do your LUA work for free. (community humour)
Sorry for the not-so-polite answer to your serious question.
There are several good LUA coders in our community, and ill try to make them aware of your proposition.
Would this stop people from working on Spring project if they apply?
I'm not ready to programme LUA commercially yet, so I'm not much help.

Ah. Thanks for the explanation.
To make my post a bit clearer: The project we are working on is not Spring based. We wrote our own games engine and the graphics uses Ogre3d.
I have posted here in the hope that there are lots of people with proven experience in Lua, GUIs and/or AI programming, an appreciation of RTS games, the staying power to see a project through to the end and passion for games, since they work on Spring for free and would work even harder on our project when they are paid.

Try to PM Meltrax, he's been working on a Lua UI and he's german.

I would recommend getting ahold of kdr11k, the guy is really really good, and he's German so that kinda fits is with what you wanted.

As far as ability goes, I would put lurker, kdr, and jk somewhere up in the top, but lurker is american and I'm not real sure where jk is from, which is why I say kdr is prolly your best choice in the realm of location.

jK is german. I don't know (or particularly care) where exactly he lives.

I'd say Zerg is up there as well, but he is also American.

you can learn LUA in like a day if you are a programmer. it's all about the API, and experience with spring won't necessarily translate to proficiency with ogre.
not that the mentioned people couln't do excellent work for you, but you could probably hire any decent dev over at rentacoder to get the job done.

but he would need to wait for the person to maybe get the required skills then there is the fact that said coder is still noobish at best.
seriously.

Sure, you can learn the syntax in a day, but learning program styles such as OO, the more advanced features with metatables and debug functions, performance implications of everything, and how it all translates to bytecode? Takes more than that.

I was writing compactly for "the standard methods of implementing OO within lua". It's a bit tricky.

OO means Object-Oriented (programming).
