OTA without the comm 8)
Rules:
get a factory, builder, mex, and a solar
then move comm away and self destruct
you may start building other stuff as soon as the comm has gone
should lead to a slower but more strategic game 8)
Round One: M3M vs Nobody 1-0 :D
hf anyone who plays this and don't forget to post the scores here :D

You could make a mod where you start with a lone kbot cons....

ooh could someone do that?
you simply get a mex and solar and con then move comm away and self-d :)

Surely that would simply result with each side flashing each other to death? The core would absolutely never be able to compete under such conditions.

TA:M used to have a comm mutator if I remember correctly - it would be really groovy if it was a battleroom option to select your initial unit. The TA:M mutator used to give you a Krog LOL.

It would be nice if you could pick comm or con-veh or con-bot or con-air or con-ship in the battle room.

The thing that strikes me about such a game though is that is likely to be more tactical rather than more strategic. Without a D-gun to defend the early base, raiding early becomes even more important, making it a tactical fight rather than a strategic one, or did it not pan out like that in the game you played? Whereas an early raid can't kill a comm, it can kill a con-unit and you get game over in about 2 minutes.

With Krog comms you tend to get more of a strategic game.

You get a mix, i can't be fucked to try to explain the difference between strategy and tactics (coz i still don't really understand it myself!) but imo its good fun and a lot more difficult to do

Strategy, in my definition and Christ Taylor's (Read: I ripped it off from a SupCom interview), is everything to do with large army's and there supply├óÔé¼Ôäós. It deal's with Army's and massive platoon's, focusing on the Big Picture. While Tactics is fiddling around with twelve marine├óÔé¼Ôäós and trying to kill a wave of zerglings.

PS: Swearing is more effecteve the less you use it (Read: All age forum)

Maybe the game would work best if you began with a construction kbot and 2 'the cans' (an arm equivalent would be needed). They are too slow to actually be used for an attack, but can be easily positioned to protect against early raids.

good idea! you could air transport your starting units early on as well 8) ARM equivelent...bulldogs probably the closest! :O CORE vs CORE would be pretty cool though and in ARM vs ARM you could have bulldogs... :D

Or Fido's. Manoverable, but not that good. Kinda equals out against the Can. But realy, what would win. A Can vs a Bulldog? I have a feeling the can is for once out of its depth.

Strategy:
- You decide to go K-Bots instead of Vehicles because the map has a harsh terrain and dificult to walk with vehicles.
- You decide that you must hold on to a specific hill because in the medium/long run it will be a good spot for artilery.
- You decide that in the next 5 mins you'll be downing your pressure because instead of spending resources on units, you'll be advancing your economy into lvl-2 and mohos.

Tactics:
- You run with your Jeffy to behind a building so he does not get's shot by the llt.
- You manuever your flashes to the front and the longest ranged rockos to the back.
