Spring RTS Engine

This is my first post so here goes.
I don't have a computer that works well or is reliable enough to install spring so all of my computing is done at my school computer lab. The problem is that there is a firewall that stops most sites that aren't considered education from loading.

My question
Is there a way of running spring and hosting games so I don't have to connect to the internet. I know I wont be able to find any one else outside the computer lab because I have plenty of friends to play with.

on a side note this is all AFTER school so I'm not impeding my or any one elses ability to learn

yes, it is possible.

go to the download page:
http://springrts.com/wiki/Download
scroll down to "Lobby server", download it, start it up.
connect with the lobby to the computer you started the lobby on.
play.

But keep in mind that filtering sites on http and blocking other ports entirely like the lobby server are two different features. It's worth trying to connect to the server.

I'm pretty sure it blocks sites on http because we have played lan games before. I think that's what you mean any way. Iv started up spring at my school and none of the games show up. Hopefully this works, thanks
