Map hardness and unit tag

Hi folks!
Am I the only one who thinks it affects the gameplay in a negative way, when map hardness is set very low ? I often end up in a situation where I cannot pass through any area with vehicles and the unit tag setting how steep a mountain/hill a unit can handle, makes this problem even bigger.
I really think we need an option to set the map hardness when a game is launched. Further it should also be possible to set a minimum degree that any unit can pass when a game is launced or a number that is added to the degree setting for all units.

I don't really like the dynamic map either. At the moment you can attack only once on every way with vehicles because after it the terrain is not flat enough to do a good attack (it slows down your units too much).
I agree it would be nice to have such an option, but who has time to make it?

This debate has been raging on since the start of time. The first releases of the game had even softer maps, just so you know. I, too, would vote for a loby game hardness setting, but then again, there are so grand many things that are qued to customize that it's not even funny
Anyway, most "hard" maps right now (like rocks and metal) are set to be pretty hard, so a giant blast doesn't make any real punch, but still leaves a dent.

besides it makes kbots more useful :) map designers can be as hard or as soft as the want with their maps, so if you want a solid map play lava highground v2 or simply make your own! i'm happy with what i get as i can't design maps! ^_^

Don't make it a lobby option, it just complicates matters. Instead, send a message to all map-makers to make the ground harder!

Not fair, If anything just change what a hardness value of "1" means in the actule engine. Other wise we'll have to go and maully change the hardness even if we wern't planning on fiddeling with it.

Ideally, a hardness of 1 would be the hardness of dirt.

As I said numerous time, I wish for a battleroom filled with button and sliders and numeric box everywhere so as to change all kind of settings, and even overriding /maps/*.smd settings.

A slider would just act as a multiplier, it'd be useful, instead of making soft and hard versions of maps or manually editing the map.

I'd rather have a box where you type a value instead of a slider, because typing a value is much more precise and give a much wider range. (Of course both would be best.)

I dont support hardness slider in the lobby.
there is already a rich way to set hardness in the map format.
and hell it works, dgun the floor of some of the new maps out there, not a scratch.
dont cofuse noobs more. and let mapmakers do its job.

If the default hardness of 1 needs to be harder, so be it, but this is a balance issue, and doesn't need to be implemented in the lobby. If mapmakers continue to make the ground too soft, then this could be a last resort, but I don't think we are anywhere near a last resort.
