no way! not filefront! it was the only source of patches and mods that didnt make you wade through about seven pages of bullshit and "sign up for free to download, just insert your credit details.." and ques and all that crap. xbox has killed pc gaming

So what if it has some normal ads, as long as you can get the download started in 5 seconds.

Probably the same reason that CanWest and other media companies are dying - with the economy tanking, everybody's clawing back their advertising money. Companies that don't sell anything but ad space are feeling the pinch.
