Spring RTS Engine

Just installed the Spring/Spring Lobby on openSuse 10.2. I installed from YAST. The version installed is 0.7b. It installed only the engine and hte lobby.

I know i have to install AIs, Maps and Mods on my own but which is the directory structure ? and if the latest mods are compatible with the version I have installed.

Thank you for the help. I made a search on goggle and here but didn't fint that info, I know the game dir is:

~/.spring

It only has a file ArchiveCacheV6.txt.

Who does the openSUSE packages?
Is it Det?
The version you have is outdated (the newest is 0.78.2), but most mods should work with few to no issues. However, you won't be able to play online until you obtain the newest release.

Install mods into ~/.spring/mods and maps into ~/.spring/maps
IIRC SpringLobby should have generated these directories for you. If it didn't, just make them yourself.

Thank you for the info, will create the directories and download some Mods and Maps to try it out. I suppose the AI need a directory too.

It didn't work so I removed from the system. Downloaded the installer for the latest version: 7821 from http://spring.jobjol.nl/files.php?subcategory_id=9

It didn't work either. I have to upgrade my Linux distro because of the libGLEW.so.1.5

I did found a rpm for it but it doesn't pass the 'getting list' step, so I suppose it's because it requires a lot more of updates of other libs.. i.e a full upgrate.

Too bad. Won't be able to use it until an upgrade is in place.

Yeah Open SuSe isn't really supported at all.

All I know is it's easy to get working on Ubuntu.

It's 10.2 that doesn't get updates anymore. After all it reached its end-of-life more than 6 months ago. Meaning you really should upgrade either way.
