Spring RTS Engine

Just to help out mods devs a bit i'd like to offer my help for any PHP, XHTML, CSS, MySQL WHATEVER Web related/Grafic stuff. I do have kind of limited time, but i am willing to dedicate what time i can spare to those who need help with their web projects. And yes, i am qualified and everything.

unrelated to thread: zwzsg: an actual KP site would be very nice, especially with the unique graphics style. If you're thinking about making one, I'll be glad to offer my help in making site graphics!

Yeah, I drafted posting that job add on KP forum:

Website designer. Sometimes I wonder if KP wouldn't be better off on its own website, something simple with like six pages (news, download, media, units, FAQ..) I could get hosted on Forb's or some other place, so hosting is not the biggest issue. Current problem is to build the site webspges. Most of the content (ie, the text and image to fills it with) is already done in one form or another, moslty dumped in one giant lump on Spring's wiki, so all that is needed it the html formatting. Could probably do it myself, but then I may waste a couple week on it. I absolutly don't want any bloated ajax, flash, or that kind of stuff, and would much much rather have simple hand written plain html and .css

The thing is, I'd be pretty picky on what I want, and am not even sure I'd use it. I want something sleek and ligthweight, I want to be able to dump in any place (no special software required on a server to run the site), to be able to edit it with notepad, etc... and I asking for someone to make me a website then not use it when it's done could create harsh feeling. So in the end, the only way to be sure it's exactly like I want is to make it myself. But then I know that making a website that is pleasing to the eye, easy to navigate and fully cross-browser might take a few more days the few webpages I've done so far in my life.

I am working on a css based site uses a fixed layout but it will be pretty neat. When it is done, I can give it and the psd for it to you so you can make your own using mine as a template.

Z, why don't you just have me host it at springinfo. We can throw wordpress on there and bam, full featured site requiring basically no web programming knowledge, and a wysiwyg editor that'll make you wet yourself. Besides, it's free.

If you want it, just say the word and I'll set it up for you.

You can handwrite html in the editor.

If you want a look at it, make an account on springinfo and go to the control panel. Any new user has the ability to submit news, so you'd be able to play around with the wordpress editor. Look at it this way, it's not the most popular cms for no reason

If you know CSS, PHP and HTML you can do pretty much anything with Wordpress.

I can not help you with making screenshots, sorry but my PC sucks, it's barely enough to play BA as it is.

That being said, what exactly do you need ? I don't think i can teach you to code php or to make layouts, you you have to give me a general idea.

I'm sorry if i'm slow on answering, but you already quoted me saying THAT I DON'T HAVE ALOT OF SPARE TIME ! >:/

I have to admit that a demo mod is a good idea ... but if you want to attract people it needs to look good, which in turn means that you will need good modellers, which then again means that you will need the help of other modellers. You should try to find somebody that actually promotes this idea in the community first and no offense, but said person should not be you. You know that you're not well liked here, but somebody that is more popular could perhaps get others to join.

Think about it.

And please respect that i want to see what happens before developing a script as complex as the one you described here. If you get something running with a team of mod devs i will happily help, but what you are suggesting would be alot of time wasted if the project should fail. :/

understand that no need to atract people because no gain excpected for free :
the only that want celebrity can make nothing for spring because they want keep for her the work (and spring if possible)
i just suggest to make somethink for spring and for those want playng free and legal,
actually spring is an game engine empty with lot of mod owner or ip fans .
spring isnot playable more than totala !(maybe same but not more)because totala isnot free
so make for yurself not for me or people :
since 4years of modding for myself i never played my mod (excepting with my halfson and a ragequit in lobby)
but im fierce to release for free and my name can be erased i dont care if spring continue :understand : im not here for money or romance or play but for make for spring and if iwill found better engine i will have no regrets ;

if yu want a boss obey to me and if not take what yu want for make the better with it !
it seems only the others want be some others but none want be me or you or someother...i each modder add an unit or part in a colectiv mod that will be huge : im not a balancer nor a texturer nor a mapper and i can only put weapon and anims and fix some stuffs;

"Ohhhhh ... this looks neat ... i wonder what else it can do." And to do that you need the support of others. Otherwise no one will gain anything from this.

maybe yu seems the only in spring communauty to think about spent yu own time for spring the others just spent & hav not time to own ?
