SO i have been playing TA for a long time, but i just recently downloaded Spring.
I have a few maps to start with and the 3 different AI are in the AI folder, and whatever came with the download. When i start up the game and i see the main menu, where should i go to start a skirmish with a CPU? Does it depend on the map?
I have tried a few different selections and its been just me running the game (or script? im sorta new to programming terms.) and all im playing is as the Arm. Their good, but i always play as the Core. Is there any way to change that before the game?
I have the BA mod btw. There are probably other questions i have but i cant remember any, but i will add to this topic once i remember.

If you are using TASClient (AKA "spring multiplayer lobby" or "spring battleroom") click the "single player" option on the top toolbar.

If you dont know what you're using, post a screenshot  (press the prntscrn key, open paint, press ctrl+v, save)

I went to the TASClient and went to single player. I went to single player in the main menu and there was no game to find. ALl i want is a 1v1 against the AI.
*cries*

Okay then! Let's get started! don't cry! but if you do, be sure to use the  smiley!

First queston: do you want to play a TA-esque mod? there are always Kernel Panic and Spring:1944 if you don't :-)

for TA-esque mods, there is Balanced Annihilation and Complete Annihilation. Balanced Annihilation uses more original TA units and updates less often, and has a larger playerbase, while Complete Annihilation has all the cool new cutting edge features and updates like 6 times a day. Regardless of names, both mods are equally well-balanced.

CA may be downloaded via SpringDownloader (click the little spring icon in your system tray, click "modules", then click "CA", then click the CA tab that appears and check "auto-update")

BA is procured here

Be sure to give both mods a try before picking a favorite :P

And here are some nice maps:
http://spring.jobjol.nl/show_file.php?id=1631
http://spring.jobjol.nl/show_file.php?id=1693
http://spring.jobjol.nl/show_file.php?id=37

After you're done with that, you can click "single player", choose a game, and you're off!

note: in this community, the words "game" and "mod" are interchangeable. What they refer to are games for the spring engine, and are sometimes called mods because spring wasn't always this versatile. The term "mod" is pretty much a holdover from the past.

If you are in Vista you may have to set spring.exe and TASClient to run as administrator

make sure you have some maps in the maps folder? (it's usually C:\program files\spring\maps)

As far as i know you can also install spring somewhere OTHER than program files. That should solve the admin rights thing.

After that, go to
http://spring.jobjol.nl/files.php?subca ... &viewmode=

and download whichever map you like the look of. Put the file you downloaded into /spring/maps

after that, go to

http://spring.jobjol.nl/show_file.php?id=1714

download that file and put it in /spring/mods

next, go to

http://www.springlobby.info/trac/wiki/Install

and do what is under the "windows" title. afaik springlobby has better skirmish integration atm.
