Spring RTS Engine

Well as one of the aims of TA:Spring is to make it THE best RTS ever, I was wondering what the competition is. So vote in here for your favorite RTS of all time (except Spring of course).

Well I would change the poll, but some people have already voted, so I cant. Oh well. Considering I have never even heard of those games, then I think it is forgivable for me not to have added them.

Supreme Commander

AoE and AoM should be a single option, so should CC and CCGenerals, and the 3 warcrafts

Starcraft... Even thou i now think it lacks strategy, and i dont play it at all, it still a great game. (and im still a bad player at it:P)

Alantai, I put the options like that cause the games mentioned, even though they are in the same seiries, are very different. AoE's and AoM are totally different, and shouldnt really be in the same category. And Warcraft III is alot different from the first two ('mana', 3d, different races, better multiplayer, heros, etc.). Same with CC and CC:Generals.

Looks like i did foget a few games didnt i?

Some of those arn't RTS's, and AOE is shitloads better than AOM, AOM was just plain crap.

First vote goes of course to TA.
Second vote goes to the equally brilliant RTW.

RTW by far. i don't know how you guys still play old OTA =z EE2 comes close though and i'm certain supcomm and EaW are going to own all when they eventually come out

Why? It would be especially interesting to compare mostly between spring and old TA (even more considering that everyone coming here, comes because they like TA style and not other game styles so a total TA victory is certain).

I would still vote for the old TA because, even though spring may be better now, old TA was insane for the time it was launched (and many years forward).

i may be an heretic to ta, and hw... but my most pleasant experience with rts comes from GC, the first one.

The incredibly fun units in command and conquer generals make it my favorite game (although the netcode is incredibly buggy.)
I wish there was a project to create a generals mod for spring.

I like Generals quite a bit but TA is still superior in gameplay.

Star Craft is sickly ballanced, it's fair but VERY frustrating.

Same goes for WC3.

My first vote goes to starcraft, because i played it for about 4 years when it came out. It lacks the strategy that TA has, but it i had never even heard of TA until 2001..... Starcraft introduced my to the world of RTS games.

After that I would actually say either Dune2 or C&C the good old one, non of all the other C&C crap... All the you-name-it-craft games I find extreemly boring, fun to play and complete once, after that boring...

Ok people from now on (if theres anyone left that HASNT voted) vote for something that is NOT TA. But this is a pretty convincing show that TA is still running strong in peoples hearts.
