Does anyone else feel like some of the units need a little nerfing?
The fact that only a multi-nuke assault, or some well placed vulcan cannons can kill the really really heavy assault tank (the gundam with nuclear warheads for arms =-P) that the core use (can't remember the name) seems like misplaced power. You can get it out in 10 minutes if you're careful with your metal
Also...maybe it's just me, but are gun ships the end all rush weapon?

If your worried about brawler hordes just have some stealth fighters patrolling all the time, as well as Flakkers.

kroggy = Krogoth. Uber huge Core robot thing. Uber. Huge. Massive.
brawler swarm = swarm of brawlers. Brawler's are the Arm gunship. A swarm of brawlers can wipe out a base if there is not much AA(anti-air) defense.

I think he is refering to the Goliaths and not the Krogoths.
About the Goliaths, you can have a look at this replay of a game i played last night:

You can see loads of Goliaths. Although they are tough as hell, you can see alot of them dying. Especially mine

... You can see FoeOfTheBee's defenses take good care of my Goliaths.
About that part where i get attacked by 6 of them and defend with the only 2 i had and D-Gunned the 4 that were left, don't try that at home. It's a risky busines and most comanders that try that, dye. All the Goliaths need is 3~4 hits on the commander and he's gonne.
About the Gunships, that's true on most maps. On Azure, it doesn't seem to be so much like that (at least not last night) but on maps, like Core Prime, people do not seem to do anything else... And it works! The map is big and ground units take a very long time to reach the oponent's base. Also, it is very hard to defend the base from all sides against gunships
and defend your attacking ground forces! The main reason i don't like to play Core Prime anymore...

If the enemy is using Brawler gunships, or Rapier gunships, a good defense is going for stealth fighters.

yeah but if they get up some AA and make you unable to scout and you go stealth fighters then if they use ground forces you are screwed and also stealth fighters are pretty sucky vs bases (although the flares probably help! :D)

Goliaths are hard, but there not the be all. Last night (in my first game! Wooo, I love PW server, as it isn't blocked on my Firewall) A whole load got killed by Min3mat. you just need lots of defence.

To kill gollies...
a) kill you enemy source of energy, then kill gollies, then resurrect.
b) use lrms (8-15) from far, aimf for "next step" rather than actual pos. Along with tanks in front and loads of "stuff to shoot at" such as pewees. Still, its hard to kill more than 3, and you will be draggued quite a lot of ground.
c) 1 annihilator, 5 sentinels, some units may work too. (per 1 gollie).
d) mines. i gollie will die to 8-12 mines of the 4th type. 5 gollies = 40-60 mines..

Well Dragons Teeth are good for stopping Gollies, but they dont stop Krogoths at all.
Laser towers are good, but you can only build so many. And considering how bad I am at the game, I have no hope getting enough laser towers up in time to stop a krogoth.

Surely Dragon's teeth have no effect in that situation when used as a protective layer for defences, because Gollies fire ballistically? As a way to slow them down, perhaps, but not as protective layering?

Excakly, thats what i meant. The main problem with goliaths is that they have nuff hp to just wander right trougth your defences and kill everything. Dt stops them at the defence line, and posibly they are out ranged bye plasma batteries and HLT
I would say it's a way of stoping them completly... if they dont have FARKS that is...

i thought that in xta gollies run over DT and could only be stopped by fortification walls? they run over wreckage anyway :)
