And yeah, I agree that comnapping is a not-fun feature. I'm not fond of commtransporting in general (dropping the comm in to dgun all the facs is equally game-ruining), but offensive transports are doubly absurd.
got me wondering if this sort of thing would be possible
as it is, a siren goes off when your boy gets hurt even the pussiest amount...but an enemy atlas picking him up makes no noise and immediately kills him.

Maybe generally warnings when atlasses are spotted because even airdrops can be bad news?

That should be very easy... unit enters LOS --> check vs. UnitDef --> sound alarm --> sleep for given UnitID --> profit.

and then send automatically fighters to stop that airdrop, then give the defending player +1000M for this shock
>_<, how about a lil bit micro and paying attention

Sleep for given unit ID gives the player otherwise unaccesbile info. They can find out if the enemy has 2 transport poping in and out of los or only 1.

Why... yes it would. Imagine that. Heck, if you then checked for radar dots near where it left LOS every few frames, you could probably even track it even when it's no longer in sight. That would be fabulous, no? Build radar, and even quick raids become... problematic.
I'm sure somebody could maybe even fudge a speed check, to filter out the Com...
Heck, let's extend it a bit. I mean... it's such a helpful idea...
One Weasel, or two? Is it a raid, or just a scouting run where I might lose a mex but nothing totally vital (
unless I'm playing Day)?
One Flash, or five? Should I panic? Why should I watch my radar and LOS, when the computer
can do it for me? I have better things to do with my time, like arrange my wind-farm in the optimal way, or start a Fusion 2 minutes in.
Maybe automatically have one builder start AA, if
any of your Allies see an Atlas and the game's < 5 minutes in, or whatever seems best? May be a bit hard, since nobody's demo'd good placement code (yet- I have a few things in World Builder that might be useful, though), but speed's of the essence in that situation anyhow. That'd be handy for those pesky DSD games, where one smart guy with an Atlas might
ruin things, by denying your team the chance to porc and tech up with those pesky "clever" tactics and "skillful" unit handling. Wouldn't want that.
The possibilities of this are
endless- whole virgin territories for helpful Widgets... doing things that expert players can do... but better
Who wouldn't want that? We can
all be experts now, with our little helpful buddies. The experts will just be... expert-er.
Wouldn't fundamentally change the game, would it. Unless you're Regret. Heh. Two problems solved! Nubs saved from their inadequacies! Regret would have to use new tactics!
Next, we need a big red circle showing the blast radius of any enemy coms around, so that we know
exactly how far to get away to be safe... should be easy and fun, and won't change a thing about the way the game is played. Nope.

I wrote a widget that plays a song when you comnap someone so you can rock out at your success!
I'll share it when i get home.

I modified verybadsoldier's Def Range Widget a long long time ago to arbitrarily track any unit defined in a config file. It can add points per interval and send warning messages to all your allied players. Adding an Atlas-Com warning would be trivial.

You can replace comnap.ogg with whatever you like and it'll play it when you comnap an enemy commander. (current song is a segment of 'Shit Luck' by Modest Mouse).
BTW I believe an older version of CA has an anti-comnap widget but as I remember it wasn't great. I'll probably write my own one when I get around to it but getting com-napped isn't much of a problem for me

It made your com run in circles.

If you guys hate comm-knapping and transport commbombing so much, then why don't you just make comms untransportable? There's a tag for it iirc.
Though that would make regret sad and quit BA probably.

Now, ignoring argh's strawmanning/trolling/wtf:
An 'enemy units sighted' sound would be nice to have for things coming toward your base, there's no real reason to have to stare at the minimap unless you want details.
Autobuilding AA would be a really stupid widget, feel free to run it to help me beat you.
Units already show some blast radiuses; showing large death blast radius should probably get added to spring.
And you already can track units when they leave LOS for radar; that's how units keep the icons until radar is broken.
