Bad performance under w2k

Ok, so i've read about how dual cores can slow down the framerate and the bit on nvidia grafic cards, both solutions only made it worse. Reducing to uniprocessor mode was utterly made the game worse for me: It started skipping frames, units were jumping back and forth like i had bad lag. Using two processors has solved that issue, but in big games with lots of units (I tested with a unit limit of 1k and RAI 601, Aftershock and NOTA, BA, CA...) the framerate drops really low nonetheless. I've turned down the grafic settings quite a bit, but for some weird reason that does not seem to have any effect at all. Grafic Card and sound Drivers are newest versions availible. It's rather weird, i can play Oblivion for example, without any problems as well as most other games, but Spring acts up, which sucks, cause i love spring. :/

Here's some stats, maybe someone has an idea:

AMD Athlon Dual-Core X2 3800+
2gb Ram
NVIDIA Geforce 8500 GT
W2K SP 4
DX 9.0c

try to disable lua shader support (in the same place where 3D trees are)

Hmmmm ... it feels faster now ... i'll test it with some extreme replays. Thanks :)

The 8500 isn't much of a performer in the first place. Try lowering the terrain detail by a bit- I've found it to be a large factor in framerate vs quality.

Oh i know the 8500 isn't much of a killer, but so far it performed quite well for me. I lowered the terrain detail, it did not change much. I'll test more tomorrow, i think. Thanks, too. :)
