TASClient annoyance

TASClient used to still launch Spring even if it did not have the map loaded; this was good. It was useful if I forgot to hit the reload maps button when I manually downloaded a map, or (most of the time) when the downloader fetched it for me.

Now, if someone changes map without me noticing and starts it, TASClient will throw the map not found error. Even if the downloader has already gotten it for me. This is really annoying, because I have hit reload every time I get a new map, instead of TASClient just starting spring. I miss many games this way.

I would like the old way back, where TASClient lets Spring determine if the map is present or not at game start.

+1 or some other solution (have the downloader auto reload maps)

The latter doesn't work if I use a site or the magic of ctrl+v.

springdownloader auto reload the map list when the download is complete

That's good, but it should still run a check when a game wants to start. Pretty please.

Not if you let the downloader auto download the map, without clicking on the placeholder minimap square. For those who have the downloader set to automatically download a map for joined lobby.

Yeah I know, your second idea fixes that.

*Bump*

Satirik can you please fix this? I miss many games of CA this way because I have the map but TASClient refuses to start spring because I haven't reloaded the list.

it reloads the map list when you use springdownloader, with autodownload when joining or when clicking on the minimap or the download button (i just checked in case i did something wrong and it works)

Well, the problem is that those don't catch every single case, so it needs to do one last check when you attempt to launch.

Well it does not reload when spring downloader downloads a map by itself without any input from the user whatsoever.

This is the circumstance that annoys me, because I miss a game for the fact i was doing something else at the time of game launch when someone changed the map, and spring downloader fetched it for me automatically. I still miss the game even though I have the required map.

I got reports about tasclient sending exit requests to springdownloader, causing it to quit randomly. To prevent this, start first tasclient and later springdownloader.

I'm sure that this is an old problem, but i wasn't around when it was fixed.
When starting spring it tells me to dl new spring. No problem there, its just that when its about to be installed it closes down since TASClient is running, which means that my spring wont be updated.
I could ofcourse get my hands on an update somewhere else but that's not the point.

It's fixed, and iirc it saves the update exe into your spring folder.
