Spring RTS Engine

Hi all,

I have a bit of a problem, I was at a LAN at a friends house and we installed TA + CC and Spring and had a few laughs, recently there was an Update which has pretty much broken my TA Spring I can go into the Battleroom and set up a game for myself but it crashes while loading "Parsing Unit Icons" I waited to get in contact with my mate but havent seen him for a while so I tried uninstalling Spring and reinstalling it to see if I would get lucky.

Now normally I would go to tech support and ask for a hand to fix it but I think it would probably be easier just to wipe TA and spring however my problem is that Although I own TA and Core Contingency MY copy of CC is the old first version that was originally released in the UK, as in the one that is bugged. Unlike my mate who didnt purchase a copy on release back then and now owns a working copy.

Basically im asking if anyone knows where i can get the CC patch that fixes it to the point of the game working. It would mean i could do a full wipe and re-install. Im gonna have to look into getting a copy of CC that doesnt have this issue so i no longer have to find this damn patch! :-D

You dont need to use an OTA+CC install to run TA mods in Spring. Spring+OTAContent download+BA = gogogoplay

I was under the impression that you needed to install the expansions to use the units from that expansion.

is that not the case?

Because I want to use the Core Contingency units aswell. I can easily install TA then spring but I would rather install TA+CC then Spring Plus is there not some bug where if you install TA and patch to 3.1 before installing CC, when you go to install CC it reverts it to 3.0 and causes a few issues? If im remembering right

Did you mistake Spring for TA3D?

1. Install Spring.
2. Download BA and put it in the mods folder in Spring's directory.
3. Download some maps, and put it in the maps folder.
4. Play Spring.
5. Shut up about OTA or CC.
6. Kthxbai.

BA has all OTA units plus a few extras.

Ill ask whatever I want if i need help, I wont shut up cos you want me to. I have a legitamite problem and was wondering if someone could help me.

you DO NOT need to have a TA instal;lation to play ANY Spring mod/game.

1) Install Spring
2) Download and install Balanced Annihilation
3) Download otacontent and put the three files inside the archive into your installpath/spring/base directory.

you are now good to go :)

alternatively, just use the installer and select the options you want (presumably BA and the base ota content)

some maps probably wouldnt hurt either

Its a bit hard when critical things like metalmaps are hidden away behind magic keys with no indication that they even exist, its like a telephone with hidden number keys in random places.
