Spring RTS Engine

hay, theres no sound in spring
and its not just spring, when i test audio it gives me this error:

audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument

Please help!

Specs: Ubuntu 32
nvidia 8600 gt
latest spring relese
built in sound card

System > Preferences > Sound
What is listed next to "Sound capture"?
What version of ubuntu are you using? 8.10? 8.04?

Are you saying it's a global sound problem? mp3s and videos don't have sound either?
