Alright Children, this stupidity has been going on long enough... There are some situations that can't be helped... there are some features that take time... there are some peoples who just have crappy computers... there are some idiots who just can't be reasoned with... there are some bugs to which there are no solutions but this:

A few maps, including Supreme Battlefield v2, show up with a green hue in TA Spring. If I hit F5 to make the interface go away, it looks normal, but when I hit F5 again it goes back to green everywhere. This happens on some maps and not others.
Not being answered in over 6 months... when the solution should be obvious to everyone,
OR the number of forumers that didn't know pressing "L" brings up the LOS view and ";" modifies it to exclude/include radar when it came up in discussion is unforgivable.
What can we do to ensure people acctually know how to play this game?

I've actually encountered this, and it's not anything to do with the metal map... I think it was a bug in the minimap start positions widget... it only happens on some maps under certain conditions and goes away once you actually start playing... or something (I haven't played spring in a while)

Someone made a manual but perhaps a FAQ covering all the questions that get asked repeatedly would be nice unless there's already one up. Peet's sticky in Help and Bugs could use an update to include them and links to helpful websites like the one forb (i think) made... springinfo or something.

Wtf? Tactically speaking the LOS view is one of the better features, knowing where you have LOS and where you have Radar view is incredibly useful.
Course it could be people knew about it but didn't tell cuz they want it for themselves.

What we face here is a problem not with the forum people but with the perception of the people who post here.
These are not social issues, these are Usability bugs, GUI flaws, horrendous flaws that nobody intends to fix that cause far more damage to new users than anything else in this project.
For example a small bar at the top next to the resource bar with a menu button and a handful fo toggles such as LOS metal map and heightmap with tooltips would make the whole playerbase aware of these features and fix hundreds fo minor GUI design bugs, and vastly reduce the number fo threads related to these issues.
Most users are unaware of these features and when they accidentally activate them it looks like an engine bug not a feature. There are no sign these features actually exist at all so how can we expect anybody to know they're there or what they do?

The wiki is quite thorough, if a bit old, but nobody ever reads it

. Perhaps if it was more advertised and easier to go to (the site doesn't have a direct link to the wiki in the top bar) then it might help some of these issues where players don't know how to do anything.

You shouldnt need documentation, it is perfectly plausible to expect the GUI to be self explanatory.
If there are no cues to a feature in the gui then the feature effectively doesnt exist. Would you be happy if you were told to read the manual to a light switch or a ------- tap? Or would you expect it to be designed so it was blatantly obvious what could be done with it and how?

Ok, so using my post to make me look a bit dense. Listen, I'm not inept at computers. I'm A+ certified and been around PCs for years. It's just there is no clear instructions for the Spring engine that gave me some trouble. And in fact that green screen problem is a BUG.
While there is many good aspects to the Spring engine, there needs to be easily accessible and easily understood documentation to go with it. For example, I couldn't find out how to place AI units long ago without making a post about it, it wasn't on Google or the forum search. All the information for Spring is either hidden or known by a very few as trade secrets. All instructions on how to use Spring needs to be out there to make Spring more accessible to users of all backgrounds.

yea, moderator making a thread to troll someone who reported bug, that looks quite stupid I agree.
Though would have helped a lot if you posted a screenshot. Which goes to most other bug reports as well.

I'm sorry... I was not intending to make YOU look dense, i was intending to make the community look dense for not helping you sooner when the solution to your problem had been determoined before you first asked it.

I love how we all use American slang in a forum where most people have no idea what it means =p
As for your quotation of my post, you provided a hopelessly innacurate context by failing to explain well enough in the bug report, thus making ti ambiguous, resulting in my misinterpretation. This si why screenshots are so great!!!
