GUI hides after holding SHIFT while queueing build orders

This is how it happens:
Select commander
press shift
make multiple build orders
wait a little...
release shift
Then the GUI disappears. I cant see the cursor, but i can still select units... when i select the commander again and press shift - as long as i press be button and the commander is selected the gui is visible. when i release shift the gui disappears again.
Its not always possible to press shift. this time the gui was gone... for good
pls help!
this happens to me on windows xp sp3 - ati x1400 mobile ists a thinkpad t60 laptop
