Hi,
Do you have a tricks to play old replays (0.77b4 for example) with currrent version Spring (0.77b5) ?

I think the 'official' way is to download an old version of spring (for example from
http://spring.jobjol.nl/show_file.php?id=872) and use that.
What it is recorded in the replays are the commands given by the players. So you could see a different behavior based on the same commands (as some bugs might have been eliminated, and now the units behave a bit differently) if you would use a different version of spring.

Ok thank you, I see and I understand but I can't found (and install old versions) in the application manager (Synaptic) . I thought, may be, you had a trick to do this...

Ah you're on Linux
Currently only the recentmost Spring version is packaged and in repository at all times. If you want to use an older version I fear you'll have to compile yourself currently...

Hmmm, that's interesting. That means, if done right, you could use the way that works to see how a game that you played previously might play out now with the bugfixes, working on the assumption you do everything exactly the same otherwise.

Because of those bugfixes it will desync and this effect will accumulate so in the end you just have bunched of units sitting still around factories.
(Besides that you need to disable the version check that's performed on demos, or compile in debug mode, otherwise Sprign refuses to play them.)
