Spring RTS Engine

What about organizing nations cup.

Each country nominates 3 players to represent it. Than we set some brackets, rules and we have very interesting cup in my opinion.

We would play 3v3 (3 players doh) couse Slovenia and other mildly bigger countries don't have more than 3 or 4 players used of competitive games.

Players should rename to get more attention from community about ongoing cup. Maybe something that would group everyone more or less close together ( [[Si]]Wisse ) for example.

There would be few games per week possibly on Saturday and/or Sunday.

What do you think?

I suggest nominating people to represent a skin color to have skin color cups.

I suggest people having special mental, err, "situations" to have special mental situation cups representing their various achievements in their mental disorders i mean situations.

I sure didn't expect that crappy response. What's wrong with this idea? It's common practice in many games and i find it very interesting.

I would say the only real issue is the lack of players as a whole. But, I support the idea - I would not qualify for the U.S. team in most mods or games, but I think it might be fun.

I just hate the "nation cup" concept. Players has nothing to do with a state.
Lets imagine I won the cup (or anybody else, that doesn't matter). You'll have something like "France won the cup" but it's stupid. It's me, not france and I don't want to appear beside a flag. It's patriotism and nationalism.

It's completely rational that you are ashamed to be french. Seek some therapy and you'll learn to live with it.

Anyway, spring still lacks of players and they are not enough players to make "normal competitions" so I don't see how you'll do a nation cup actually ^^

I'm from Canada... sadly I stink at spring.

A more plausible concern: wouldn't timezones be a problem? Maybe you could do preliminary brackets by hemispheres, then have matches between say Europe and North/South America (I'm not aware of how many African/Asian players we have around here)?

We put Australia with UK and we eliminate one timezone in the start. Americans can play with Europeans, they're doing it now. It's not like Australians can't play with Europeans, it's just that it would be hardest to sync America with Australia, New Zealand...

@Cremuss: I just want this as an interesting twist compared to clan scene where things are more or less known already. We could get some quite descent teams from many countries (France is one of them for sure) and play for fun (and national pride ).
I do not expect every country to participate couse Gibraltar Luxembourg and similar just can't pull it off. We only need enough teams to make some playoffs brackets or something like that.
