game awards

at the end of a game, i think you should earn awards like:

Slaughterer-most kills
Team Killer-obvious
Survivor-having one unit left at the end of a game
PWND!-being the first to lose in a game
Dominator-killing everyone else (or killing all of the opposition in a team match)
etc.

the medals would be kept in your personal profile as a record of your achievements (or failures)

I don't want achievements unless they can be game specific.

This is the best idea you have ever stolen Zoy! +1/4

Sounds like a cool but highly abusable system :) I mean noobs could cooperate to get those medals and stuff.

Maybe base a ranking system that way instead of time played.
Or a separate ladder for those " Achievement whores " allowing different achievements to be worth different amounts of points.
Such as:

*Wiped out an enemy player (10 golden dildos awarded)
*Successfully dropped 10 or more units in enemy territory (7 buckets of cum trickle onto your face)
*Built a Krogoth (3 Sheep rape you in a dark street)

Fixed.

Oh, and this would be best done with lua and not engine-side.

Hazmat man-being nuked 6 times and living
Nuclear terrorist-nuking 6 times
Experimental Commander-building 10 krogs (or other uber-units)
Death from Above-making 100 Aircraft
Giant Slayer-killing 5 krogs (etc.)
Metal/Energy Mafia-making the most metal/energy in a game
Infantry Inspector-making 200 kbots
Total Tanker-making 200 vehicles
From the Depths-making 50 subs/amphibians
Naval Mayhem-making 100 ships/subs

anything else?

These awards sound big game n vs n centric.

Yeah, and most of then could be "cheated"... I mean, I can just make 100 bladewings to get the medal and still use then decently in the game itself :)

Something more apropiate would be, for example, a medal for causing X amount of damage with air units, taking in account that X would be a preset value multiplied by the number of enemy players, and that destroying non-militar units would give a bonus towards achieving that score since its damage to the enemy economy/logistics. (only the destruction would give the bonus because a half hp fusion still works at 100%)

Whether it is mod or engine made, the info had to be stored on the lobby server. I do not remember who it is, but someone is or was working on a new lobby server (is it in use already?). If i remember correctly, it was going to have the ability to store properties with the user account, which the old lobby server is not cappable of.

if it is possible to store key-value pairs on the lobby server, then mods or the engine could save such achievements there. but the bigger problem would be, how to show them. of course, the lobbies would have to do that, so you can compare your achievements with those of others... and as long as those things are just strings or number values, this would not be such a problem. but if you want the lobby to show special images, eg of medals...

well that is how i see it. i dont know how big of a problme it is for the engine or the mods to store and read those values from the server. and how much of a problem it would be for lobbies. maybe some others could talk about that.

i was thinking about how to show them, how about here? if you can get youre forum account synced with your lobby account, then the server could auto-load your acheivements to your profile here

i think 2 synced accounts would be good, also right-click on the name u could see the achi. (if the user wants that) and what is with noobs, that arent registered here?

sounds like ET:Quake wars. Could be cool but don't do too much awards :)

Also some of the awards are pretty easy to do by just using graphic infos showed at the end of a game.

i think this is realistically doable only on an autohost. the engine or lobby cannot be trusted.

so, it is possible...

I dont think its worth doing if it will be limited to autohosts tough. Then again I cant really tell since I dont know how hard it is :)

Fairly easy to do this locally with lua, but I do support server side account based achievements.

WHO WINS THE GOTA AWARD!!!!!

GOTA award (Commander's Honor)-winning 10 of each "good" award.
Epic Phail (Fail)!-winning 10 of each "bad" award.
H4XORS-cheating in an online match.
