This is my second map:

There are no teams. Tanks cant move over rivers, only Kbots.
Every player has 1 big metall spot and 1-2 small metall spots.

No offense intended, but please stop using satellite imagery for maps. It fails for many reasons. Also, your heightmap is utterly not awesome.

Texture: Blurry, not a whole lot more you can say about that tbh.
Heightmap: Bumpy and screws with pathfinding.
Regardless, it wasn't my intention to bust your balls.

Texture is fine, yet not very inspiring. What worries me is pathing, that seems to be quite fail. Can vechiles move at this map at all ?

yes it handles it right first i thougt you coudnt build alot here but you can.
a bit variation in the texture coudnt hurt but ingame it really looks great.
maybe make tidel bit stronger and wind less so building on land isnt op to much.
Maybe soem features. maybe a feature eiffel tower in france, wndmill in holland ent,

First of all: downloaded the map but when I try to open it, Spring never get's past the "Initializing" screen. Not something I would say indicates a problem with the map (except that I cannot test it of course) but something I rather would attribute to the less than satisfactory Linux 3D drivers for the Intel 965 graphics cards...

Actually, sometimes satellite imagery works surprisingly well. Victoria Crater comes to mind, being based on an image taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Mars in general do have some stunning geographical features documented with height data and all which would be superb Spring maps I think. There are some quite fascinating canyon complexes among other things:

http://home-1.worldonline.nl/~veenen/te ... ars50.html. (water in image added by Terragen image generation).
Then we have images of the moon like those in this Space.com article:

Creating maps using satellite imagery might pose a big challenge, but I think it is worth trying it out once in a while.

It is a huge pain to get heightmaps to work when you've downloaded imagery them the internet to convert into one. I fiddled with it for ages but it was just too annoying. I gave up on map making after that.
