Children of Poseidon - Sea based mod

I always loved to play on water with ships and subs, but this was pretty limited in other mods.
So I decided to make my own modification of naval units in BA.

I'm quite new modding, so I used BA as a grounds to make my mod.

The mod is basically water only. After you begin, you can choose to go either subs or ships which then allow you to produce constructors which then allow you to produce higher tech labs.

I've only spent a week or so making the mod, so if it turns out to be more popular I will spend more time adding units and maybe even models to the project.

Also any feedback would be much appreciated.

Nice concept, care to make a tactical mode for this?
Finally, managed to force the AI to have a naval battle with me, though with obsolete ships....

Like your vista-like bar-bar thingy on your loading-screen...except for that caricature of "Poseidon", whoever or whatever he is.

Btw, an error here: Black Hydra (Poseidon's Chariot)- build by Poseidon himself. Should be: Black Hydra/Poseidon's Chariot- built by Poseidon himself.

Couple of things here...

If you're going to take another mod and make your own get rid of the trash, don't just edit some FBIs and call it your own. That's not hard to do, and doesn't deserve much credit.

With water only units, balance is going to be impossible to achieve. There are a lot of things you need to start working on. A few new units would be nice or at least custom scripts and/or layout.

To be honest, I think you should've done a bit more work on this before releasing it. It looks terribly premature.

Lost the match, neither of us got much advantage. Very unbalanced indeed. Submarines dominated the seas. For sure

Hey all,

Thanks for your responces.

I will start from scratch as soon as i've learned the basics, don't worry.
I will also add more models and rebalance;)

I've a few ideas too, and i was wondering what you think about it, so please respond:

one of my ideas is to make 2 factions, one for ships and one for subs, the first one or two tech level will be pretty much the same (like core and arm water in BA etc) but after those techs one specialises in submarines and one in ships, pretty much as the high techs do it now.

Please tell me what you think. And please excuse my bad english, although i think it's understandible :wink:

there is nothing wrong with changing some values, that is what a "mod" is. However, I was a bit sad to see TA stuff. Tsu has time to make models so I assume that the ta content is just placeholder. It seems indicated by the latest response.

OT: Tsu, are you male or female, I think you are a female, wasn't sure if I should say he or she in the post.

If I had enough time to make a mod of my own, I'd probably do something like this (except it would be Navy vs. Pirates). But, I don't.

Although you're free to use any models/textures/scripts I make for CA; just give due credit.

I like the concept of all-sea mod very much. As this is a proof-of-concept release, I didn't expect any balancing whatsoever. As for models, many of them are not from OTA, but fan-made instead, though it's always good to see whole set of original models with consistent style (duh!). Now all we need is balancing and more sea maps!

<offtopic>Tsuyosa means "strength" in Japanese, so I think he's male if he knows Japanese.</offtopic>
