Music Player

What does everyone use to play music on their pc? I'm aiming for something that looks relatively nice but uses minimal resources and the people on here are generally pretty savvy when it comes to this sort of thing.

RhythmBox or VLC.

Ace, I'll have a look at them. I'm pretty anal about my music library looking good so that it's easy to find what to listen to so if any of them excel in that area it's always a bonus.

this pretty much perfectly describes what you're looking for
the basic set up with a few tweaks works fine and you can customise it endlessly, if you can be arsed. uses really few resources and stuff. nice

I actually started using iTunes because it's got some many nice little extras... definitely not lightweight however.

iTunes is a shopping program for DRM infected music, not a music player. :P
foobar all the way. I'd grab the columns plugin too because the default playlist misses a few tags (that I needed).

I used foobar2000 back in the days when their music library plugin was shit, but I still loved it because it's very lightweight and responsive. The file conversion system was also ace, since it let you use basically whatever codec you could get your hands on.
I'm on Winamp 5 these days, and although the music library is pretty good, the program itself usually leans towards the unresponsive side of the spectrum. The latest builds of foobar2000 are probably much better.

To be honest I used to use itunes until the great format of a couple of months ago. I really like the way that it displays your music library, but I dislike its gobbling of resources. I'll give foobar a go though, any plug ins that are a must have?

I love foobar. If you know how to code you can make it look however you want, although the default interface is quite nice now.
