Spring RTS Engine

So i'm posting this here because i really havent found an active forum for this old (but awesome) game.

So i just dug out my copy recently and am trying to play this thing with my Precision Pro, and it's working great - EXCEPT for the fact that I can't get it to roll with the Z-rotation (z rotation) axis. It keeps wanting a button that you press to make it roll, but i think it would just make more sense if it would let me rotate the damn joystick already and make it work that way.

use ppjoyjoy or whatever it's called to map it to another joystick, changing the z access to two buttons?
