Spring RTS Engine

First of forgive me if this is simple to sort out on my own, but i have looked through the faq and other pages and cant find anything.

I have downloaded the regualr installer which it says has everything needed to get started playing spring, i am following the instructions to get started which suggests getting used to the controls before going into multi player battles by going inot the 'commander' script, but when i go into 'commander' it brought up an error saying there are no maps, so i downloaded a map, but no it is saying there are no mods, so do i need to downlaod a mod? and where can i download this from?

any other info i should know to get started will be greatly appreciated, thanks for your patience

thats a bit tricky to find out if you are new. Spring is just the engine, if you want to play something you need a mod (better would be to call it game).Most played game is:

You will have maps installed with the regular installer unless you specifically deslected them. Perhaps you should try installing again and select at least one map pack and one mod (BA is what most people play).

O i see, i thought spring was what the game was called, and all the mods confused me as i didnt understand what they where for, i dont think i deselected the mods or maps on the regualr installer but maybe they wern't selected to start off with, thanks for the help and the links guys.

I have now got BA and have got into the lobby, but i am desynched, even if i have the map and the mod for the server im on i am stil desynched, i also have ota content, anyone got nay ideas how to fix this?

You can try upgrading tasclient to latest one (http://tasclient.licho.eu/) it comes with springdownloader which installs otacontent properly and gets mods/maps on demand.

thanks for that, i reinstalled the whole game and it is now working, but the cursor laggs alot while im playing, and jumps, is there settings to sort this out? thanks you for your help!

What processor/graphics card do you have ?

Also, you can check out springsettings (think it is in the start menu in spring) and try to lower the graphics settings...

If your cursor lags:
- enable vsync
- disable lua shader support

Spring is an engine, games and mods both fall under the Mods tab in the installer currently.

we need to make that installer better, i will try to, but i cant make the installer, would be great if someone did this (before 0.77b1) i'l make a topic later.
