when spec -> dont try to use a: etc when chatting

When i first play the game, and talk to allies only (by pressing first alt+enter), and now when im dead, the alt+enter mode is still on (means a: comes at the start of each message).
Would be better if it removed that mode into CTRL+enter mode (no prefix at start) when im spec.

Just hit ctrl+enter once and it stays in the new mode (or shift+enter for spec chat).

i know, but its more comfortable to make it automatic, and its also unlogical to stay it in "a:" mode while you cant talk to allies anymore.

a: mode sends to specs though, and when you're a spec you should only be sending to other specs and not disturbing the players.

what?
just put it to CTRL+enter mode when you are dead, then theres no way i could send messages to allies as a reflex, usually i just need to repeat myself because i sent message to allies while i was spec.

i was a bit confused, but just set it to ctrl+enter and then do what you want to do

I think we are all agreed that when a player dies, their default chat type should become chat-to-all.

Either way, that ctrl-alt-shift-enter thing is a friggin' abomination.

No. Seriously, what if I was writing to may allies about strategy and didn't realize I was dead? I could give away the entire game.
There's no real reason to automatically change chat modes, except to confuse players.

You can just not use it. The worst issue with it imo is that it by default binds ctrl+enter, which also forces game start. Binding two widely different actions to the same key is not a good idea.

Aside from the forcing issue, the ctrl-alt-shift-enter feature is vastly superior to the similar features of other RTSes, which generally require you to open a menu and select an option in order to change the chat recipients.

The problem is that I compulsively hold the various buckeykeys while playing, so every time I open the chat window I have to change it.

"Seriously", what if you didn't realise you were dead? Come on man! I cannot remember a game where this situation has ever happened. At least we could make it optional behaviour to stay as it is, but I think a lot of ppl would like it changed. We need a poll!

We don't need a poll. His example is so improbable as to be of negligible concern to us. You know when you die, maybe we could have a nice blinking message below the minimap "YOU ARE A DEAD PLAYER" if you can't realize it by the fact that you are no longer playing.

lol its not about knowing am i dead or not. its about forgetting to change A: -> none. if it was automated, i wouldnt be crying in every game when i send message to no-one *sniff*
