Air Transports and repeat orders

I've mentioned this before, and I recently read an article in the strategy guide that said this was used effectively.
Every time I take a group of air transports, any kind, any mod, and 1) turn on repeat order, 2) drag a load area, 3) drag an unload area, 4) set a move order to a safe place. Every time without fail every transport will end up on the ground ignoring all the units waiting in the load area after a few load/unload cycles. (Fewer than 5 or 10 cycles the whole transport system fails.)
I really don't know why that's in the strategy guide (in spite of the fact that it should work as the guide says.) So if they said in there that you could just set that up and ignore it and let it do it's thing. I must be doing something wrong. Cause mine always breaks down and I have to restart it constantly even though holding shift shows the orders are still active.
Can someone tell me if they can get a repeating load/unload cycle to be sustained indefinately in any game or any mod? Cause I've had this problem for years now and I'd like a solution.
