It probably went down a long time ago but I randomly wanted to get an old game off of it today and got slapped in the face. Anyone know of any other good freeware game sites?

Gamehippo isn't dead, it's having DNS issues. It's alive and well at 216.92.35.228 . Well, technically the site is still alive, but it's been dead, both in new game reviews and in forum activity for ages. I know because I'm regularly trolling there and none of the moderators even care.
Hell, they haven't even reviewed Tyrian 2000 yet, despite my efforts to make them

underdogs lets you get abandon ware and others allthough some of the downloads are tricky to get..

There's already a comprehensive site for abandonware.
It's called bitorrent. I doubt gamehippo could compete.

BitTorrent still isn't that comprehensive, if you exclude private trackers it isn't comprehensive at all...

Agreed. And you cant browse torrents too easily like you can on a site such as gamehippo where you get reviews, screens, comments, ratings, etc soo you can find new stuff relatively easily you may not have thought of.
