Spring RTS Engine

I am having problems accessing spring. i read the FAQ but it dosnt seem to be helping. when i open up the lobby theres no one there. not a single person or server. i changed it to official server and it still had nothing. when i attempted to host my own game it says i have to login to the server. how do i do that. plz help.
