Intel GMA i965 white map problem

I know this issue is already addressed in FAQ and i965 is not the gem of graphics cards, but I would like to know if there is some workaround to it, after all the card has support for shaders etc. I am using ta-spring from GIT (although the Ubuntu repos does not work eather) and the default intel driver(acceleration works ok). Below is the output of glxinfo, if anybody cares:

this is most likely a driver issue.

I have exactly the same problem!!! on the same graphics card.

I have tested with WinXP - and it works fine there.

what should we do?

I am glad to hear that it works under Win XP, although it is quiete intimidating to boot to Win XP to run a game with linux version. By the way I discovered that other modes of rendering the map(like that greenish/rediish) works fine. Actually what extension is used to render the map? It might be a driver problem but compiling a newer version of intel drivers is a pain.

A lot of people have had this problem with both intel and ATI cards. It's a driver problem, not a spring problem. With ATI you just have to use the official drivers instead of the open source ones, but no solution has been found with intel, so not much help can be found here. Sorry.

What relative said is very true, same happend with the laptop i used to have fine in XP grey/white maps in Linux.

It is the drivers.

Very well then,

Lets submit this bug report.
anyone done that yet? I am about to do it myself, just don't want to submit the same bug if someone did it already.

It is a very well known bug, and it has been around for well over a year, i don't think it will be fixed.
