Funny topic at Stardock forum:
http://forums.galciv2.com/313097
Guy is complaining he didn't get a box. It doesn't get really funny until this part:
"About four weeks ago, Sins of a Solar Empire permanently damaged my monitor, and Stardock refused to admit that the game could have anything to do with it. Now this."

Actually an xp install fried my last 21" monitor. Somehow or another some wires got crossed in the installer, and it forced the monitor into 800x600@120hz when it could only display 75. The varnish smelled very bad.
Meh. SHit happens, but it is possible for a game to damage a monitor by forcing it into a mode that it cannot display, HZ is a perfect example.
Just like when people used to complain about cd's shattering in drives. Everyone called them a liar, and lo and behold it actually was a problem.
SHit happens, not much you can do about it other than get over it, but protecting a reputation is no evidence that shit doesn't happen.

Umm let me clarify that I Highly doubt the game had anything to do with his monitor...
Likewise with dudes video card. Idiots shouldn't be touching hardware mmk?
And before anyone calls me a liar... Monitor was a compaq second hand 21" with a curved screen bought thru compusaacutions.com << iirc the link. In other words, it was too old to have many (if any) of the safety precautions that newer monitors have.
In case it's not obvious, or someone is slow... CRT.

Dammit, they never work. Maybe if they drew power off of two or three USB ports instead of 1, but the coffee only stays lukewarm...

Maybe you could build one into a 5.25" cupholder.

At least they weren't using the CD-ROM drive as a coffee cup holder and complaining.

screenburn happens on some monitors. It isn't the games fault.
