2 Problems that I have

Hi, I love this project, but there are two problems that I have:
1. Whenever I start a game, it has this strange coloured text that does half revolutions and says "Press F11 to enablde/disable widgets", with some eyes that follow your mouse in the corner. This is VERY annoying, so I was wondering if there was any way to get rid of it?
2. The game lags whenever I view a screen with a lot of moving parts and action, and whenever I switch the graphics in springsp to very low, save and quit, it never does anything; it pretty much ignores what option I have selected and turns it back to medium again. How would I fix this?
Thanks!

1. Deselect "eyes" from the widget list. That would remove the eyes and annoying test. Press f11 to open/close the widget list.

Ok, that solves the first one, but why doesn't the quality change when I change it and press save?

Are you running on Vista?

using springsettings for changing engine settings, it's right there in your spring directory

Nope, XP Home.
Maybe it's just me, because whenever I open the settings, the resolution saves, but the quality doesn't.
PS. Does anyone know any mappacks that I could download? I don't want to download every single map one-by-one. Thanks!

that's a minor bug i fixed already, but isn't in installer yet.
happens when you save manulally before exiting, yes?
if you don't save, you're asked on exit and your choice will be remembered

So I just exit and save when it asks me to?
I'm afraid that even lowering the quality won't speed it up, because it lags A LOT when there are two or more units on the screen.

2 or more units cause it to lag for you? I think you're likely to have problems no matter what quality settings it's on. What sort of computer do you have?

Nah, probably about 8+ units lags for me, which is a problem because you could see hundreds of units at a time.
Here are the Specs:
Dell Dimension DIM3000
512 MB RAM
2.66 Ghz Intel Celeron CPU
Intel 82865G Graphics Controller

You have very similar specs to the guy in
this thread, take a look at it.

In short - buy a cheap 5-series Nvidia graphics card off ebay.
