Blizzard, one of the stingiest companies when it comes to protecting its sales, just released patch V1.15.2 for the original StarCraft.
...which includes a NoCD...?
And the warez ensue. Promoting SC2?
Feature Changes

- StarCraft and StarCraft: BroodWar no longer require the CD while playing the
game. To play without the CD, please follow the following instructions:

- Windows Users:
- Make sure you have "Hide extensions for known types" unchecked under
Explorer Folder Options.
- If you own only StarCraft, copy "INSTALL.EXE" from the StarCraft CD to
your StarCraft folder and rename it to "StarCraft.mpq".
- If you own StarCraft: Brood War, copy "INSTALL.EXE" from the StarCraft:
Brood War CD to your StarCraft folder and rename it to "BroodWar.mpq".

Well, they must be thinking they are unlikely to sell any more SC1 at this point. Which is reasonable considering it's a 10+ year old game...

They did the same thing for WC3 too.

I dont think they are trying to kill sc1 with this to force people into sc2

they must've just come to the conclusion that cd's die out someday, and people dont want to pay for the same game again~~

Making sc1 more available is a good move to motivate people to play sc 2 if you think about it.
