I just noticed you cant send youtube links through MSN messenger anymore.

Solution: replace
http://youtube.com with its IP which are:
http://208.65.153.238
http://208.65.153.253
http://208.65.153.251
http://208.65.153.246 (actually youtube.biz which redirects to youtube.com automatically)
OR JUST USE:
http://youtube.biz/
Edit: heres more blocked stuff:

every now and again msn blocks urls of popular sites with no explanation, its undone when people start reporting it on blogs and sites.
Look at
http://www.mess.be and youll see they like to do it to rival messenger clients a lot, especially the web based ones.

One more reason not to use any of the official clients. Miranda ftw.

err, look on the frontpage of
http://www.mess.be/ it explains all.
Any message containing a link to youtube is blocked by msn on the server side by the spim filter. Apparently users are only told their message never arrived if they include http:// in the address.

I recieved an error message at first (sort of instantly, so I think it was something else as MSN is rather slow) but it got sent on the second try.

Can you not just turn the filter off? If youtube stays blocked I see MSN dying out within the next year. Like 50% of MSN users have most likely linked youtube at some point in the past, be it their own videos, or just cool videos they wanted to show their friends.

The filter is server side not client side, it makes no difference what client OS or options you use. The only possible difference is location.

Thats exactly what came in my mind too.
How stupid MS can be :S
I think there is some conspiracy, the creators of MSN messenger actually wants to delete it, because it seems like MSN messenger gets worser and worser every release. Seriously. It was alright in the past

now it has became some laggy-buggy-crashy piece of shit which works slower and slower every release.
Oh, and even those MSN clones sucks, lmao, i have made them crash even more and easier than MSN messenger XD

Well, MSN has been on a down turn for a while now. It just sort of happened to win out the format war vs AOL messanger and ICQ, but it's user base isn't as rampant these days with advances such as steam, facebook, youtube, google messanger, skype, not to mention the larger adaption of IRC and the ventrilloesk systems. I honestly suspect microsoft is growing tired of paying server cost for this sort of system when user to user interfaces aren't so hard to do any more, and companies like valve will gladly take up the slack since they make direct profit off of doing so. My suspicion is that microsoft is trying to put MSN to bed, albiet slowly and painfully.
Seriously, if you say you use MSN these days in public alot of people look at you like you're a caveman. It's just not the in thing any more.

Eh, I like to use it for fast file transfer.
Fast meaning easy to set up, not necessarily faster upload/download.
