How to compile for 64bit ubuntu 7.10

Simple question, how do I compile spring for my 64bit Operating system? I am pretty confident with using Terminal and going to root and such, I know it's going to require me to compile myself and I don't want to end up screwing it up by taking a wild guess and just screwing myself over later.

LordMatt, that seems not to work at all, there's a line error. :O
scons: *** No SConstruct file found.
File "/usr/lib/scons/SCons/Script/Main.py", line 1128, in _main

you're running scons from the wrong directory, make sure you run it from the root folder of the tarball

You can download the tarball here:
http://spring.clan-sy.com/dl/spring_0.76b1_src.tar.bz2
extract and run the commands in this folder

Ok, I'm getting packages, but they keep locking up and then saying it will take 4 hours to get them. :O
I partially blame verizon's throttling on my previously un-throttled line...

as long as you know you can get spring easily from the PPA, it's ok.

I can't get it to load from the version I downloaded that had springlobby, nor with the files I just made, it won't list mods or maps, and AF lobby can't change settings.

I have Kernel Panic in mods, and Delta Siege in maps, how do I make it compile for 64 bit now, it says I compiled for 32bit...

So when you in SpringLobby go to Single Player, select kernel panic as mod, choose a map, you aren't able to play?

No, I was unable to select a map/mod.
I resolved the problem by using the linux installer on this page. Oddly enough a 32bit program, and I get 30fps max settings, no water. But still get the water bug on maps with water.

It doesn't matter for spring atm if the binary is 32 or 64bit.
About water, what do you mean? It looks streaky or fails to appear?

It's a pentium D 3ghz with 1gb ram, and an MSI 8600gt 512mb ddr2 vram. It's the 8 series bug of course, but unlike on windows, only strikes are from islands out, water over land works fine for some odd reason.

Yeah, launch springsettings and set the water to reflective+refractive. That's what I did on my 8600gt too.
