Short answer... fileuniverse... mean answer, if you own TA it's in audio tracks on both disks, just rip it yourself... technical answer, because of the way TA deals with music you have to have a working CDRom Drive with a disk with the audio-tracks burned to it in the correct order in order to have the music function correctly.

Also, this forum is for Spring, not TA, so... moving to off topic

TA can only play CD tracks AFAIK, you'll have to insert a CD with audio tracks. On the upside you can insert any CD.

I had this fun experience I was lanning and I had only one copy of the CDs so did a "spawn" install... my friend still had his WCII CD in the drive so he ended up plaing TA with the Warcraft Soundtrack... I used to use a Ska CD sometimes when I got sick of the classical stuff.

edit:

Just to be clear, yes, as far as I know TA uses the audio tracks from the default CD drive on your computer to play music... a later patch may have added WAV support but it's not something I am aware of.

You can get the music from the internets, just use google. Then convert the tracks to WAV and mount them in daemon tools or a similar virtual drive through a cue sheet. Google helps on how to do that as well. :P

I dunno what drive TA accesses though. If it tries to play the first drive then this approach may fail or you'd have to shift drives around.

Here's an example .cue sheet:

Code: Select all

FILE "01 - Total Annihilation Intro Theme.wav" WAVE
 TRACK 01 AUDIO
 INDEX 01 00:00:00

FILE "02 - Brutal Battle.wav" WAVE
 TRACK 02 AUDIO
 INDEX 01 00:00:00
...

It accesses whichever one it thinks it was installed from, or else the lowest alphabetical disc drive... that's how it seems to go for me anyway. I keep AA 6, all the AA maps, TA, CC, BT, all on one disc compressed into totala1.hpi (faster loading), comes out to almost exactly 700 mb. So I just copy that to each computer whenever I do a reinstall or whatever, and it always goes for the lowest drive if I want music.
