Spring RTS Engine

So I just finished the new TASClient replays form (still at a beta stage, it needs some bug hunt) that allow you to sort your replays, and filter them.

The watch button now tries to run the demo with the good spring version if available in Spring\OldSpring\version\spring.exe. If the file exists, it tries to copy the right mod, map and demo to the right old spring version directory and then run the demo.

The big failure of this system is the file copy, because I don't know how to tell spring where the mod, map and demo file are, so It has to copy them.

So here are the Spring old version from 0.71b1 to 0.75b2, extract the files in your spring dir:

If you get an error ... just send the report.

I will make the upgrading installer move your old spring.exe to the OldSpring\version\ folder automatically. I think this is a great idea.

you should move the whole spring dir actually except mods maps, demos and screenshots

need old replays and mods tho. remember min3mat's excellent commented replays, anyone?

just uploaded some old AA versions (link on the first msg) i'll upload old BA mods next

if you want to watch old replay with AA you'll have to copy the mod files manually because the lobby just copies the primary mod archive for now

Why?

Different spring releases may have different datafile requirements.
(e.g. /base files, the /shaders directory in the past, etc.)

Are we talking about backwards compatibility? That'd be awesome. Though mods get released far too often.

Can we make some folder "oldversions" and put there .sd7 archives from the old spring files, except mods/maps/ etc.

So when you try to open some old replay, it would read one of those old version archives, and it would be 100% backwards compatible.

yeah it's about compatibility with old replays but that's all, maybe i misunderstood something
