Spring: 1944 Map (WIP) - Prokhorovka_1944

Over the past few days I've slowly been working on a new map for Spring: 1944 called Prokhorovka. Prokhorovka is an area in the Ukraine (former Soviet Union) which was one of the main focal points of the Battle of Kursk (the largest tank battle in history). As such, the map is designed to support tank battles, with predominantly large, open areas intersected with hills, forests, a river, and other bits of terrain and feature placement to break up terrain monotony and provide for tactical possibilities.

Here are some pictures:

I'm satisfied with the heightmap (which was done 100% by hand in PSP). Most of the river is quite shallow and traversable (the parts of the river which appear a bit faded) though a large portion of it will be impassable for most units.

All I have left to do is work more on feature placement. I hope to have more of those little farmhouses scattered about, as well as more types of trees and vegetation. Some parts of the forested areas will be thickened considerably to make them unmanagable for vehicles and to serve as cover areas for infantry.

To help with this, I'd like to use some of the glorious trees and stuff made by people in the Spring community but its hard to track down the source of these features. If anyone would be so kind as to point me towards maps which contain cool features which would fit this theme (ie not palm trees and cacti), please let me know.

Of course, suggestions and critiques are more than welcome. The map will be compatible with any OTA mod as far as I can tell, though the metal arrangement will be a bit different (Spring: 1944 focuses on far fewer metal spots placed in strategic locations -- but these spots individually give far more metal than average).

Added more variety of custom trees, as well as some vegetation (tallgrassy type stuff) here and there, I think its coming along nicely.

Is the large flat area in the lower right corner meant for an airfield? It's too rectangular for a natural feature...
Also, can you add a 'railroad' texture somehow? Not anything usable for trains, just a map texture? I'd model some wrecked armored train wagons to be used as features (in fact I already have them modelled), and maybe some station buildings. Will get the map to feel more like an important battlefield.

Awesome smoth, and I bet they dont look any worse than mine. Where can I find 'em?

Railroads will be difficult but i'll give it a try...

The rectangular area in the bottom is a farmfield, originally I was going to stick corn in there, but now it's become a wheat field with hay bales...

A couple more screens:

Last pic shows some new trees, including two types of pine trees

great job but is this gonna be a showcase map?If you kee psticking in so many trees and features wont it be unplayable?
Another thing, are you making sure those trees wont chain fire?
You might get a few huge fires during the game that will first of all slow it down and after a few moments you will stay with an emty map.

Looks awsome.

I think a railroad just isn't in the cards, man. I tried to map one...

Well, if it can't be textured, then it can be modelled. I can make a 'station with tracks' feature in such a way that the tracks will form something like a half-loop. So, if it's placed on the edge of map, it will look like railroad comes from offmap to station and then goes back offmap. Will such a thing be useluf (the station can mark a strategic point btw)?

I have a perfectly workable idea for rails on another map. (So a station and correctly scaled rail models would be sweet.)

Also of note is the fact that i fixed the firestarter tag, so nothing but flamethrowers will be burning down trees anyway.
