Help with FPS

I need some help. My game starts to drop to very low FPS after alot of units have been built, and I'd probably attribute this problem to my Dual Core processor.

Some quick specs:

Genuine Intel(R) CPU 2160 @ 1.80GHz (2 CPUs)
2048MB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 2400 Series

If Spring runs smoothly on one core rather than both, then how do I make Spring use one? I've seen a post somewhere before about it, but I didn't really understand it. Is there an easy way of doing it? x_x

Your not the only guy having problems, see this quick search. It's got a lot of posts with similar issues.
Try this batch file that I made, it's pretty simple. Using this to launch a program gives the .exe RealTime processor priority.
It loads quickly and takes priority over everything else in the processors CPU time.

I do not guarantee computer stability and you use it at your own risk :twisted:

OK, that batch file total screws you system stability. Do not use it!
Also seems like ATI cards + Spring = fail...
People are getting random problems with Dual Cores and Spring, you can set affinity to one core and also on Nvidia cards you can create a profile just to run Spring.exe in single thread graphics processing.
Not sure about ATI's control panel or profiles, always had Nvidia cards myself.

Okay.

Well I wouldn't know how to set affinity to one core. I've seen a page on it but didn't really understand it.

Anyone help?

Open task manager with ctrl+alt+del.
Go to the processes tab.
Right click spring.exe, and go to affinity.
Leave only one core checked.

But you have to do this every time. There's probably a way to tell the ATI drivers to only use one core, but I wouldn't know it.

Yes. Infact, you can change it back and forth to see which option actually gives you the best performance.

never use realtime cpu priority for a game. even above normal gives me random input issues and i had to go back to normal.
(if anyone knows how to solve these input problems running apps on above normal i'dbe interested to know thanks)

you'd need to give certain system processes equivalent priority; i'm not sure which ones
