A more pertinent question: Do I use Windows Media Player?

Anybody who does this is an idiot who doesn't understand that the tools which have had loads of work put into them are better than his crappy homemade solution.

Better, but not as good a fit for said person

But you're not talking about little media player solutions.

No.

You're expressing your feelings toward the best search program ever, aren't you.

Eventually you too will understand, tombom.

It has nothing to do with that. Ive written my own media player too, and its about knowing exactly what and how everything happens. I know damn well that i will probably never reach the quality of winamp. I miss some id3-handling in conventional media players so I added some based off regex easy as cake. I did it for learning.

i use foobar2000, best sounding audio player i have used, and it allows you to completely customise the interface with plugins and coding....

I made the mistake of updating my Zen Micro's firmware and now it's one of these what ever they were called players which needs WMP10+ to put stuff on. The original software isn't any better though. Although I can copy music directly on it now. Anyway WMP forgot half of the tracks I wanted on and also converted everything to WMA for no reason at all. I'd uninstall it if it wasn't for the shitty driver which is needed.

Mini mode? Use winamp or foobar. Much less failure.

That's a caveat when you buy an mp3 player. Make sure it's not some lamo "need software to copy music onto it" player. Drag and drop only please. Remember Sony minidiscs? That was a nightmare. For some reason two foolish roommates of mine decided to buy it. You have to "check out" songs onto it, then you'd better remember to check them back in. You can only check out a song 3 times to discs. After that you're out of luck. Must be where itunes got its crappy ideas from.

For a great little no frills but great functionallity mp3 player at a low price...

Check out SanDisk - Sansa c240

THere is like a c400 or 600 is is pretty bad ass as well. I love my sansa, me and it get along very very well.

Darn, I'd get that if it supported SDHC cards instead of the far more expensive and half the size micro sd. SDHC players are as yet hard to come by, but far more worth it than spending $300 on an ipod nano when you can add 8 gigs to your music on the go for $30.

I like my Zen Micro, it's got a 6GB harddisk and works like a charm after falling down a lot.

Music... I got an iPod as a gift back in high school, (it's a series... 3ish, I think. From 2003 or so. More recent than the physical wheel that spun, but back before the screen could render greyscale.) and it still works flawlessly - I've never needed anything more. I use iTunes to update it with new stuff, and then use a Bose soundock to play it - that way, I can have music running all the time without tying up computer resources to play tunes. Hell, my computer doesn't even need to be on.
