Download Porky_Islands

Screenshots are on the download page. Most of the shorelines are not passable by hovercraft. They are, however, accessible by kbots. There is a fairly large number of metal spots.

I played a few games on this map, and found it to be way too porcy:

Our team had total control over the sea, but because the land areas are so easily porced up, it was very hard to drive the victory home. Nuking the center makes the shallow pass unpassable for normal vecs. LRPC shots hit the cliffs on the edges of the islands.
Planting heavy AA on the inside of the cliff allows you to really porc it up, cause bombers cant bomb so well on the other sides of cliffs. Imho the gameplay on it was quite boring, as it requires massive resources to breach the big islands.

Also what is the point of the islands in the middle?
They hold no metal what are they for?If your intention was that someone will build stuff on them that wont ever happen.
So maybe redo the metal map a bit?

ignore dzibrush, those islands make great staging grounds for amphibious assaults.

i'd like this map more if there more shallows allowing land transit to the other small islands and round the back

MMmmm, on gameplay, its verymuch that one team very quickly secures the sea, its impossible to get back, then the rest of the game is just them trying to win while the other team delays the inevitable. This is a problem with sea on a lot of maps.

cause we need pure sea maps ...We aint got many of them...
Why dont we have sea maps with glaciers for example? OTA had them.

Mission successful!

In all seriousness, I knew from the start that this map would be extremely porcy. This map is intended for people who like porc. If an hour long marathon of Green_Fields turns you off, then you probably won't enjoy this map.
This is a problem with sea on a lot of maps.
I think that's because its much harder to porc in the sea. There's no equivalent of LLT spam to stop early rushes. Early torpedo launchers and depth charges are easily outranged, and the most players don't bother to use the floating HLTs until it's too late. Even the commander, which is ideal for stopping early rushes on land, is practically useless in the sea. He can't fire his laser or use his dgun.

On top of all that, naval equipment is more expensive. You need a lot more metal to produce a fighting force or a defensive line - so if you get pushed back and lose several mexes then you feel the resource shortage much sooner.

I like the deep water and gundam can really use a map like this. Hell even deeper is better :). that shallow that spans the distance between the two islands is great.
