This is a PG13 forum.
So said swiftspear but people are ignoring it, and I think we'd need an extra 100 moderators to actually fairly decide what's appropriate and what isn't.
So I propose we take the handful of words we shouldn't be seeing and apply smoth style replacements such as fuck -> flour or bastards -> balloons.
I believe thsi should make a measurable difference to the forums by dousing water on the worst of our posts and reminding people that vulgarities don't belong here.

I wonder how the f-word can hurt anyone, compared to nuclear weapons for example.

This has always been my view. As long as it doesn't get too excessive it's fine IMO.

Censorship is the purview of the moderation, and currently is conducted on an "as-needed" basis. This thread was hopelessly sidetracked before the first page, so I elected to censor it through locking.

On a final note... I'd like to add client side censorship... IE, you can tell your spring forums through options to censor certain words. But we'll likely never add any real word censors here unless it's for the lulz, policy always has been and always will be to just punt around people who can't handle the responsibility of mature slang usage.
