Grr I hate this, I upgraded my machine to play the one pc game I liked... spring. And I get 20ish fps when NOTHING is happening and the game is next to unplayable when a decent battle is happening.

This sucks but I wonder how many of you are also in this situation. You have new hardware and spring is still running slow.

Since a fix may be a ways a way I wanted to baw about it for a bit.

It's a difficult issue, there's no way to reproduce it unless you have the 8-series nvidia gfx and some additional (unknown?) conditions are met. Which means that some dev needs to get an 8xxx.

It's not 8xxx specific, or atleast the same sort of thing cane happen with older cards.

Dunno if this applies to 8xxx cards, but i have the same problems with my 7800GTX when i update my drivers, for me, making sure the AMD duel core patch thing for my X2 is installed, and remembering to turn OFF the threaded optimisation option in the nvidia control panel works every time. Brings it from 10fpa back upto 80+ on high settings.

I would test tobis recent change to see if it improves frame rates on my gf8 but then I'd have issues compiling with out of date vclibs.

My only good video card was the 6800, and it got fried.

My new 8600 runs spring, but I can't enable water, and the game is very jumpy...

Linux Drivers for the loss.

Turn off threaded whatever in the control panel. That's what was killing my performance. Went from 30~ fps to 200+ fps.

Seriously, many people with the 8 series get bad fps, with that option on or off.

That's because they didn't eat their vegetables. Now get back to work or we'll never finish those parts on time... geez.....

200+ fps under what conditions?

Resolution, map, what's on screen, what other spring/driver settings?

Um... small divide... on... my computer. Cat just tried to jump up, smashed her head into my keyboard tray and squinted. I'll let her lick my plate now I guess.

Caydr try running it on those settings past the first minute. As soon as units start popping up on the screen the frame rate plummets. I get 200fps but only pre-game when the UI and ground are all that's there, and only when I aint zoomed out.

Everyone else except you is getting very similar results. Results in Linux Vista and XP, multiple operating systems, even on different versions of the geforce 8 cards. Please stop spreading lies.

YOU stop spreading lies. Stop playing on your Mac and get a real computer.

Jalepeno Poppers are EXCELLENT.
