Thinking of buying PS2

I am thinking of buying a PS2, now that they are quite cheap. What you think?

I am thinking, specifically, of buying a PS2 with Final Fantasy XII (?), which costs 150├óÔÇÜ┬¼ (149, bh├â┬í) and God of War 1, which is 20├óÔÇÜ┬¼. There are probably many really nice games that must be quite cheap, now, no!?

Of course the godly would be to get a PS3 with it's godly grafics with the game Heavenly Sword (even translated to portuguese and everything) but ...

i've thought of buying a PS2 solely to be able to play final fantasies.

If you can afford it without eating noodles for the next 9 months, DO IT!

I recently purchased an old ps2 from a friend, I mostly use it as a DVD player tbh.

Tekken 5/ soul calibur 3 are excellent if you enjoy beat em ups.
GTA San Andreas will suck your life away for a while
I played Just Cause on Xbox 360, and while extremely buggy, found it very entertaining, just exploring the islands, basejumping/hijacking helicopters etc.

I will admit i got the console, bought tekken, and have barely played anything else on it, I'm pretty stumped as to what's good tbh.

The PS2 has a really nice game library and is compatible with PS1 games, which is equally as good in terms of library. If I didn't have one already I would definitely buy a PS2.

I would definitely recommend a PS2 but I'm not sure it's worth full price at this point... Perfectly good DVD player and if you get it modded you can play DivX etc on it... also Ratchet&Clank is a good series, the FF games... it's got a good backlog of decent games and PS1 games to boot.

I actually preferred SC2 myself oddly enough.

The PS2 has some good games. By some, I mean most of them are actually ports, available on other better consoles, or actually PSX games. However, given the sheer number of games you can run on a PS2, I suppose it is worth the investment.

I bought it because it let me play PSX titles and watch DVDs.

Was saying that waiting for some brand new version of a five-year-old product to come out in its ultra-thin case is a waste of time and money.

Original PS2 works fine and is cheaper.

Ultra-slims generally look like waffle makers anyways.

I never said it wasn't, personally, I feel that the hardware of the PS2 in both classic and slim models is inferior, and I wouldn't buy it again. My post, however, was not engaging yours at all.

Ignore these console flogging bastids, stay pure!

Edit:

I have four NES. None of them cost me more than twenty.

Meh, I got a Wii, good enough considering NES games are no longer available at flea markets.

As for the PS2, go for it. If you can, get Global Defense Force (might need to import from the UK or something, no idea if it's available in Portugal).

Yeah for sure get an IBM PS/2. Great for PC gaming. It's got some sweet serial connectors for your computer keyboard and computer mouse. Backward compatible with all sorts of PC games.

If you will buy one, you should buy the big version as the small doesnt haves
cooler what means that you cant play all day :)

I have one and here are some suggestions of games:
*Shadow of the Collossus > Will change your life! :) super short tough
*God of war I and II > Epic adventure and action games
*Armored Core > Make robots and fight other with em
*Splinter cell series > Best Stealth action games I know (Metal gear is cool but it always ends up trailing off the Stealth part)
*Metal gear series > Even if you dont like the games the story is worth it :)
*Warship gunner 2 > Naval battle action game. Not very realistic but if you like customization you will love this, as you build the ships you use.
*Ace combat series > Modern dogfigthing game.
*Prince of Persia series > Fun action and adventure games, tough short.
*Devil may cry series > I only have the number 3, but I suppose the others are as good. High speed action game.
*Sonic series > Tough over easy they are fun. Ignore the bad comments surrounding Shadow the Hedgedog the game is as good as the other.
*Burnout series > High High speed racing and, is some games, demolition
*Mercenaries > Fun action game
*Megaman X collection > Megaman games rock (Except the utter frustating X6)
*Megaman X8 > Fun game, tough short like the other games of the series
*There are more but I cant remember then all in a single moment...

DONT BUY
*Dbz sagas > Its boring and short
*Remembering bad games is hard

your list is lacking the most important part. FINAL FANTASY
